At the beginning of the year, we took a chance and put in an application for a grant with the Ottawa Community Foundation’s Community Grants Program.

Our small but mighty charity got the news that we were one of the selected recipients. We received a $15,000 grant!

Our objective for this grant is to reduce our waitlist so that we do not have to turn families away from the support they need. Sadly we had to close the waitlist last year because the volume of donations we receive cannot keep up with the demand in our community.

As you can imagine, COVID-19 affected our plans for this goal and we’ve had to adjust how we tackle the challenge. While we are still working hard to reduce the waitlist, we have had to make changes (with permission from the Ottawa Community Foundation) to how we use the grant funding to serve our existing clients and their pets.

How can you help?

While $15,000 may seem like a lot, the current circumstances of COVID-19 are straining our resources nonetheless. We are always looking for monthly donors or individuals who can donate dry and moist food to one of our drop-off locations.
