Project Description

Highjinx is a second hand store, a showcase of local art, a drop in centre, a community food bank, an oddities shop, a donation centre, a living room and community kitchen, a meeting spot, a community workshop venue, retro furniture rental location, prop provider, a furniture bank, a picker’s paradise…

Most importantly, highJinx is a hub for like minded community members to share ideas, stuff and spirit with each other.  Amazing partnerships form right before our eyes in this cozy little shop and none of it could happen without our neighbours!

highjinx resell mostly donated antiques, oddities, retro items and housewares using net profits to fund an initiative that assists the vulnerable in our community.  This socially conscious business is a unique undertaking and is totally private, meaning that does not use any Government funding.

There is a Furniture Bank in their basement and they provide household items and furniture to those in need at no cost.  They case manage clients, house the homeless, advocate for the vulnerable, provide life skills programming, encourage positive community integration and a place for people to meet.

highJinx is a little shop that does a whole lot more than just find and resells great vintage and antique pieces.

Karen and Leigh support the most vulnerable in our Community through our highJinx Initiative which is a not for profit funded by the sales of the oddities and kitsch. They host a free meal every Friday, there’s a free furniture bank in our basement, a Community Pantry is in the corner to help feed our Neighbours and there’s a Free Shelf of goodies at the front door.

We house the homeless, visit the sick, support seniors, provide harm reduction strategies, feed those that can’t cook, suggest referrals, advocate, give the hard truth, bake birthday cakes, reunite families……and stand up when others stand down.
